The December meeting is our AGM and Christmas lunch kindly hosted by Sandra. As the photo shows, the Group shared their handmade Christmas cards and talk turned to the forthcoming Spring Showcase exhibition at the Tithe Barn, Nether Poppleton on 25th and 2th May 2019, more details to follow in the New Year!
10 November 2018
As usual, members were working on a diverse range of work at our meeting today under the expert eye of our mentor Diane Bates.
Sarah and Cathy were preparing work for their York Open Studios next year and shared folk related stitching as well as colourful co-ordinated woven, felt and silk pieces with the group. Sandra showed her progress on a piece of recycled metal work whilst Carole’s metal pieces were more traditional goldwork. Carole C, Jane and Gwen had pieces all tree related whilst Linda was stitching a square for a collaborative piece based on a woodland scene from RHS Harlow Carr. Gina was working a painterly piece with chiffon and there was no getting away from Christmas with Sue preparing pionsettia flowers for a workshop!

There is loads of fun and interesting things to do both inside and out at the Moors National Park Centre. This is an historic visitor centre, set in an idyllic spot on the banks of the River Esk, near Danby. From the doorstep you can see pretty much everything that makes the North Yorks Moors National Park so special: moorland, woodland, farmland, flora and fauna, miles of hedges and dry-stone walls, historic buildings - Diverse Threads will address these elements in an individual way to produce a riot of colours and texture in pieces which have not been previously exhibited. Well worth a visit!
