I have always been interested in embroidery from my early school days and later went on to do my City & Guilds.

I love the countryside which has given me lots of inspiration.  I am also interested in Far Eastern embroidery and Shibori techniques so my ideas come from a mixture of the two.  The two pictures entitled 'The Dales' and 'A Seaside Inlet' have been created using the Shibori technique.

The Dales:

A Seaside Inlet:

Loose Kimonos became very popular with Japanese women, and were 'de rigueur' at formal occasions, perhaps because outer layers had the greatest expanse of fabric exposed to view.  I have created this by using the technique of tying, wrapping, and dyeing, which I am now putting into modern designs and wearable clothes.  At the moment I am experimenting with Kimonos, an example of which is shown below:

The shoulder bag is in Leather which I found I could wrap and sew to give different textures,  I am mainly interested in wearable art, and need to explore the borderlines between functional pieces and decorative ones.
