For the work we did for Fashion and Embroidery 2005 we chose to work to a theme of "Ancient Rome".
One of the spin offs from this work was a series of knot design inspired beadwork panels and necklaces. The beading is flat strips of peyote stitch which were interlinked before the ends were zipped together.

This one has strips of brick stitch as well as peyote stitch and is mounted on a background of appliqued silk paper.

I have made 15 panels in all with only a couple of repeats.

I became interested in the idea of "sub rosa" - keeping something secret under a rose symbol.
I made some little pin cushions with a secret hiding place under an embroidered rose.
Not happy with just one flower motif I tried many variations using different threads.
Here are some of the resulting brooches.
